Approvals and permits

In France, it's important to check with your local council if you're planning to build a swimming pool. There are a number of regulations to bear in mind:

• if your pool is less than 10 m2 you don't need any permission, unless your area is
  • within the perimeter of a heritage site
  • in the vicinity of a heritage site
  • a protected area
  • classified or pending classification

• if your swimming pool is between 10m2 and 100m2, you must submit a preliminary works declaration to your local council

• if your pool is over 100m2, you will need planning permission.

Once your pool is in order, you can integrate an aquatic window into your pool. You don't need any special permission for this.
